Theresa May's snap election should have been about whether voters would be for or against a republic, a United States of Britain. (USB) Obviously there would have been another vote for a new name, but that would be for the popular press.
Monarchy has served its time. Queen Elisabeth's reign will be the Glory of the Monarchy and the devolution of the Empire. Her reign will be revered, and all the palaces will be used for tourism, as they very nearly are already.

I can only suggest a name list of interested nations, or territories as some call them. States in a federal state would be England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Shetland, Faeroes and, dare I say it, Iceland and Greenland. That would have been a conquest too far, but we need open minds on this system.
Places that would have to go are the Jerseys, Gibraltar and the Falklands. If England still needs territories to reign, there is always Rockall.
